Recent Bird Sightings

March 1, 2015 during the late afternoon, a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers flew into our yard and landed together on the same tree in Lot 11… literally only 30 feet away from us while we were walking the back yard. Together, they worked up the dead tree trunk, breaking off pieces of bark searching for ants.

After we watched in awe for at least ten minutes, I retrieved my camera from my car, and I was fortunate to capture this photograph of an adult Pileated Woodpecker female just in time before they flew off. We’ll be watching this tree from now on… looking for their return visit!

We don’t have a BIRDING YARD LIST yet for Casa Paloma… but we will soon!

In the meantime… here is Dave’s photo slideshow from nearby HIGH ISLAND, Texas.
